"We have reduced the squad from 25 to 20 for the trip to Argentina.  Whilst in Argentina (as invited guests of the Argentinian Hockey Federation) we will compete in a 4 nation tournament together with USA (world ranking 10), Chile (16) and Argentina (2).  Following this tournament we will play a further 2 matches against Argentina, all in Cordoba.  This tour and tournament represents an excellent opportunity for us to see one of our major opponents in San Diego, the USA, whilst also providing an ideal training and competition platform in order to select, and prepare the final 18 players for the World Cup Qualifier which begins on the 26th of March.  

After two victories against Ireland (world ranking 15, 5th place at the 2009 European Cup in Amsterdam) the team has shown it is moving the right direction.  Whilst we did not display our best hockey during the two matches in Nivelles, it did show that physically the players are progressing well, and that despite almost 3 months without an international match, and almost 2 months without a club match, the players were able to achieve two good results (Friday 5th Feb 3-0, Sunday 7th Feb 2-1) against a difficult opponent.  In particular the return to the squad and excellent form of Anne-Sophie van Regemortel has given us a real stability in defense, whilst the progression of Louise Cavenaile in her return from injury was very positive. 

This selection represents an excellent balance of youth and experience, with an average amount of 42 caps within the team.  If we are able to continue our current program we will be able to increase this average to around 60 caps by the time of the European Cup in 2011, putting us in an excellent position to qualify for the London Olympics, which is the current programs ultimate goal." - Murray Richards    

Le match de ce matin (très tôt à 11h) ne fût pas un des meilleurs, mais nous avons gagné par le désir de la victoire!

De wedstrijd van deze morgen (erg vroeg om 11u) was niet echt goed maar we hebben het uiteindelijk gehaald door de wil om te overwinnen.

Le début était vraiment pour l 'irlande qui voulait une revanche pour leur perte de vendredi. Elle commencèrent à jouer très haut et avec pressing (un peu comme Murray avait prévu). Nos dames devaient courir après la balle. Les irlandaises trouvaient bien les 'trous' dans notre défence. Elizabeth Achten a dû intervenir quelques fois et les irlandaises ont ratés plusieures grandes chances.(vraiment très... but ouvert : 2 fois à côté...)

Het was dan ook logisch dat IRL op voorsprong kwamen na ongeveer 10 minuten.
Het was dan niet via een spelfase, want daarin werkten ze niet goed af (gelukkig voor ons) maar wel hun eerste PC.
Onze dames kwamen wat meer uit de defensie en enkele harde schoten op doel van o.a. Sofie Gierts werden goed gestopt door de Ierse keepster.
De Ierse dames bleven wat meer achteraan, hadden veel gegeven en zaten er fysiek een beetje door. Rust 0-1.

Tijdens de rust heeft Murray dan de puntjes op de i gezet, de juiste directieven gegeven en de dames aangemoedigd om er voor te gaan. Pendant le mi-temps coach Murray a donné les directives pour ajuster le jeu et encouragé les dames de continuer a se battre. Il a stipulé que le physique des Irlandaises n’était plus très fort depuis leur bon début de match.

Quelques changements de tactique et la volonté de gagner a donné de la force à nos dames. Un beau but d’Emilie Sinia et ce fût 1-1.

De match werd dan harder, een groene kaart en een gele kaart voor de Belgische dames (van de Ierse scheidsrechter). Onze dames werden meermaals op de grond geduwd maar konden zich erover heen zetten. En door een prachtige fase kon Sofie Gierts, 5 minuten vóór het einde de 2-1 cijfers vast leggen.

Encore un grand merci à Zoulou Brulé, pour avoir arbitré (l’arbitre belge n’était pas à l’appel, après un malentendu...)
et aussi à positiva Anouk Raes, pour avoir fait des sandwiches après le match!

Après ces 2 matchs c’est à Murray Richards et son équipe de coaches, de selectioner les 20 dames qui iront à l’ Argentine ! Ce sera dûr (pour toutes les personnes concernées….)

De dames die niet geselecteerd worden, blijven verder trainen in België samen met Philippe Goldberg, die niet mee naar ARG gaat.

Aujourd'hui nous avons fêtés les 50  caps de Morgane Vouche!

Vandaag hebben onze hockeydames laten zien waar ze de laatste maanden zo hard voor werkten! Duidelijk fysiek vooruit gegaan en veel spirit !!

Contre l'équipe Irlandaise -15° place du monde (BEL=18)- nos filles ont très bien joué. Buts de Erica Coppey (FG), Lola Danhaive (FG) et Charlotte De Vos (PC fase)

De match begon wel 40 minuten te laat doordat de bus van de ierse dames in het verkeer had vast gezeten.
Dès le début, nos dames prennent le match en mains. Elles se créaient de belles occasions: quelques shots au dessus et à côté du but irlandais. De ierse dames speelden op de "counter" en af en toe konden ze door een harde uithaal vanuit de achterhoede toch gevaarlijk tegen prikken.

Après un melée dans le cercle, Erica touchait la balle pour surprendre la gardienne irlandaise 1-0!

Le début du 2ième mis temps, les IRL jouaient plus haut et avec plus de pressing. Maar onze dames lieten zich niet verdrukken en bleven onvermoeibaar samen spelen. Dit resulteerde in de 12 de minuut tot een doelpunt van -verdedigster- Lola Danhaive, die door goed opkomen, onverwacht vrij in de cirkel stond en zo haar eerste WBNT goal kon maken!

Après le 2-0, les irlandaises ont encore essayé de prendre le jeux en mains. Elles obtinrent quelques PCs, Ruth Knops a encore fait quelques interventions et un goal a été annulé (shot trop haut).

Maar het was België die de einduitslag vastlegde op 3-0 met een ingestudeerde PC fase - tip in - door Charlotte De Vos.
